PSA Group’s DS Automobiles plans to launch its next-generation flagship model, the 7-seater coupe SUV, the new “DS8” in Japan in 2025. Currently, the production prototype has been captured on camera for the first time, and spy shots have also been taken.
The car is most likely to be called “DS8” and is scheduled to have its world premiere in the third quarter of 2024. It is expected to be priced at around 50,000 pounds (approximately 9.5 million yen), significantly higher than the Peugeot “E-3008,” and will be assembled at the Stellantis plant in Melfi, Italy.
French car brand DS is close to releasing its new SUV, the DS8, and a prototype spotted on a German public road offers a glimpse of the car’s stylish design and advanced technology.
About DS Automobiles’ new DS 8
The DS8 will be built on the Stellantis Group’s new STLA Medium Architecture platform, which it will share with the Peugeot E-3008 . It is expected to have a seven-seater layout, making it an attractive option for families.
Although the prototype is heavily camouflaged, we can see the thin headlights, simple front design, unique shape of the rear quarter windows, etc. The rear doors do not have conventional handles, but are built into the thick C-pillars, and other advanced design elements are used throughout.
The rear section is dominated by extremely slim LED taillights on the outside of the body that connects to the sleek coupe roof, while the central brake light integrated into the trunk lid also gives the car a stylish look.
The entry-level model will be equipped with an 86kWh battery, while the top-of-the-line model will be equipped with a 98kWh battery, with a range of 700km. In addition to a single motor with a maximum output of 230ps, a dual motor version with a maximum output of 388ps is also rumored to be available.
