It was not introduced in Japan after the first generation “Cash Kai”.
“Cashkai” (Japanese name: Dualis) was far ahead of its time. Currently, it is known as a compact SUV that is popular in Japan. The first generation was launched in Europe as the QASHQAI, and is sold in North America, Taiwan, and South Korea as the Rogue, which shares the same platform. Meanwhile, it is sold as the Qashqai in South Africa, Middle East countries, Singapore, China, New Zealand, and South American countries, and as the Dualis in Australia and Japan.
Sales of the first generation began in Japan on May 23, 2007, but the lineup was integrated with the full model change of the X-Trail on December 11, 2013, and production for the Japanese market ended. It has not been implemented since then until now. When the first generation model was released, SUVs were not as popular as they are now, and the “Cashqai” (Japanese name: Dualis) did not attract much attention.

Nissan’s new “Cash Kai” Should we introduce a Japanese model now?
This time, when considering the introduction of the new “Cash Kai” as a Japanese model, the biggest attraction is the body size of 4,425 mm in total length, 1,838 mm in total width, and 1,635 mm in total height . It is a size that can carry an intermediate size.

The lineup includes the “e-POWER” model, which is very popular in Japan, and like the new “X-Trail,” the “VC Turbo” uses a dedicated engine for power generation, so there is no doubt that it is an even more attractive model. The 1.5L 3-cylinder gasoline engine “VC Turbo” has a maximum output of 156hp (115kW / 158PS), the electric motor has a maximum output of 188hp (140kW / 190PS), an inverter, and a battery. ProPILOT (with navigation link function) is also installed as a safe driving support function. It adopts all the equipment of Nissan’s popular car models in Japan.
SUVs are so popular in Japan, and other companies are increasing their mid-class SUV lineups, with Toyota offering the Yaris Cross and Corolla Cross , Honda with the ZR-V , and Mazda with the CX-30 and MX-30 . For Nissan, it should be well worth adding “Cash Kai”.
