Audi announced the fully redesigned third-generation premium SUV, the Q5, on September 2, 2024.

The Q5 is the brand’s signature SUV, and the Q5 Sportback, a coupe SUV derivative, is particularly popular. The new Q5 features a sharper, more refined exterior design while still maintaining the toughness of an SUV. The new model is based on Audi’s PPC platform, and features a sporty grille and slim-style headlights at the front, as well as enlarged side intakes in the bumper. The side view is tightened by the press lines at the bottom of the doors, and the curved lines at the rear reduce air resistance. The taillights are connected on both sides, creating a design that gives an advanced impression.

In addition, wheels ranging from 18 inches to 21 inches are available, and the higher-end model, the SQ5, features a special design.

The interior of the new Q5 is also equipped with the latest technology and designed for convenience. It features a large curved display that combines an 11.9-inch digital meter with a 14.5-inch infotainment system, and a 10.9-inch display for the passenger seat is also available. A Bang & Olufsen 685W, 16-speaker premium sound system is available as an option. In addition, the luggage space can be expanded to a maximum of 1,473L by folding down the rear seats, combining functionality and practicality.

The new Q5’s powertrain is a combination of gasoline and diesel engines with a 48V mild hybrid system that employs a 1.7kWh battery and a 24hp electric motor, achieving excellent driving performance and fuel efficiency. The base model in the lineup is a 2.0-liter TFSI engine with a maximum output of 201hp and a maximum torque of 340Nm, and is standard with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available as an option. In addition, a model with a 2.0L TDI engine with a maximum output of 201hp and a maximum torque of 400Nm will also be sold in the European market.

Additionally, the higher-spec SQ5 model is equipped with a 3.0-liter TFSI six-cylinder engine that delivers 362 horsepower and offers sporty driving performance. The SQ5 comes equipped with a sports suspension as standard, and an air suspension with adaptive dampers is available as an option, for a comfortable ride that adapts to the road conditions. The same engine is also available in the European SQ5, and it delivers 362 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque.

Audi has yet to announce U.S. pricing for the new Q5, but in Europe it is expected to start at €52,300 for the standard model and €82,900 for the SQ5 model. Audi says the new platform and improved suspension and steering systems provide improved comfort over the previous model.
