Suzuki adopts new “FRONX”, “electric parking brake” and “auto brake hold”

The electric parking brake and auto brake hold feature is not available on overseas models, but is included in the Japanese model.

Electronic parking brake (EPB) Basically, it is a button located around the driver’s seat that electronically controls the parking brake (side brake/foot brake).

The “electric parking brake” automatically applies the parking brake when the vehicle is put into “P” range (this varies slightly depending on the manufacturer). Furthermore, when the vehicle is put into “D” range or “R” range, the parking brake is automatically released. Vehicles that use this system do not have a parking brake (side brake/foot brake). Since the side brake is automatically applied, you can stop and start the vehicle without worrying, reducing the burden on the driver.

With the “Auto Hold Brake” in place, if you press the “AUTO HOLD” button (this varies slightly depending on the manufacturer) while driving in “D” range, the car will automatically apply the brakes if the “HOLD” indicator light is on when you stop at a red light, etc. When the light turns green and you are ready to move forward, you can step on the accelerator pedal, which will turn off the “HOLD” indicator light and release the brakes, allowing you to resume normal driving. If you have to stop multiple times due to traffic jams, or if there are long periods of time between traffic lights at large intersections, you can take your foot off the brake pedal, which greatly reduces fatigue. I even feel that the way you get tired is different when driving a car without the “Auto Hold Brake”.

Suzuki’s new “Fronx” adopts Dual Sensor Brake Support II

The new ” Dual Sensor Brake Support II ” installed in the new “Swift” is adopted, which is not adopted in overseas models . Three types of sensors, millimeter wave radar, monocular camera, and ultrasonic sensor, are adopted for the collision damage mitigation brake . In addition to vehicles and pedestrians, it is now compatible with bicycles and motorcycles as detection objects. It also detects vehicles and pedestrians at crossings when turning right or left at intersections, and aims to avoid and reduce various collisions.

Forward Collision Warning Function When driving at speeds between 5km/h and 100km/h, the stereo camera detects vehicles and pedestrians ahead. If it determines there is a possibility of a collision, it issues a warning with a buzzer sound and a display in the meter. It can also detect pedestrians at night.

Forward Collision Warning and Brake Function When the possibility of a collision increases, the function warns the driver and automatically applies light brakes to encourage the driver to avoid the collision.

Forward Collision Mitigation Brake Assist Function When the driver applies strong pressure on the brakes after determining that there is a high possibility of a collision, the brake assist function is activated to increase braking force.

Automatic braking function If it is determined that a collision is unavoidable, strong braking is automatically applied to avoid the collision or reduce the damage caused by the collision.

False start prevention function: Helps to avoid collisions caused by pedal or shift operation errors, detects obstacles within about 4m ahead using a stereo camera. When the vehicle is stopped or moving slowly at less than about 10km/h, if the driver depresses the accelerator pedal heavily despite the presence of an obstacle, the function automatically suppresses engine output to suppress sudden starts and sudden acceleration. Engine output is automatically suppressed for up to about 5 seconds.

Lane Departure Warning Function If the vehicle is about to deviate from its lane, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter warns the driver. When driving at a speed between about 60km/h and about 100km/h, the stereo camera recognizes the left and right lane markings. If the system determines that the vehicle is about to deviate from its lane, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter alerts the driver.

Sway warning function: If the vehicle sway, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter sounds to warn the driver. If the stereo camera determines that the vehicle is swaying based on the vehicle’s swaying pattern within the lane while driving at speeds between approximately 60km/h and 100km/h, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter sounds to alert the driver.

Leading vehicle departure notification function Notifies the driver when the leading vehicle starts moving with a buzzer sound and a display on the meter. If the leading vehicle starts moving and moves away from the vehicle, but the vehicle remains stopped even after the vehicle has moved away by more than 4m, the function notifies the driver that the leading vehicle has started moving with a buzzer sound and a display on the meter.

Road Sign Assist (RSA) is a system that displays road signs recognized by the forward camera on the multi-information display.

Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) uses radar to detect vehicles in adjacent lanes. If a vehicle enters the blind spot, an LED indicator mounted on the door mirror lights up.

Rearward false start prevention function: When four ultrasonic sensors built into the rear bumper detect an obstacle behind the vehicle, the automatic brakes are activated.

Brake Support When reversing: Four ultrasonic sensors built into the rear bumper activate the automatic brakes when they detect an obstacle behind the vehicle. Camera package for omnidirectional monitor (Omnidirectional package, manufacturer’s option for vehicles equipped with camera package for omnidirectional monitor) Cameras are installed in four locations on the front, rear, left and right of the car. If you install a compatible navigation system (accessory installed by the dealer), it becomes an “omnidirectional monitor” that displays an overhead view of the car on the monitor. Places that are difficult to see from the driver’s seat can be checked on the screen, which helps with parking in tight spaces.

Rear Cross Traffic Auto Brake Detects blind spots when reversing and alerts the driver. If there is a risk of collision, the system automatically applies brake control to help mitigate damage caused by a collision with an approaching vehicle.

The high beam assist stereo camera detects the brightness of oncoming headlights and automatically switches between high and low beams. This allows you to drive with high beams without having to switch between them, making nighttime driving safer even on roads with few street lights.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) (with full-speed following function) When you press the ACC switch on the steering wheel, the millimeter wave radar measures the distance to the vehicle ahead and automatically accelerates or decelerates while maintaining the distance. The distance can be set to three levels (short, medium, long). If there is no vehicle ahead, the vehicle will maintain the preset speed (full-speed following).

Camera package for omnidirectional monitor (manufacturer’s option for vehicles equipped with safety package and camera package for omnidirectional monitor) Cameras are installed in four locations on the front, rear, left and right of the car. When a compatible navigation system (accessory installed by the dealer) is installed, it becomes an “omnidirectional monitor” that displays an overhead view of the car on the monitor. Places that are difficult to see from the driver’s seat can be checked on the screen, which helps with parking in tight spaces.

While driving, road signs recognized by the stereo camera are displayed on the multi-information display in the meter at the appropriate time. Supports “Maximum speed,” “No crossing,” “Auxiliary signs,” “Stop sign,” and “No entry. “

The blind spot monitor is a system that assists the driver in checking behind the vehicle when changing lanes. It uses radar to detect vehicles in the adjacent lane and alerts the driver with an LED indicator built into the door mirror and an alarm sound.

Active cruise control (with full-speed following function) is newly adopted. Safety equipment includes the new “Dual Sensor Brake Support”. It is equipped with “Rear False Start Prevention Function”, “Rear Parking Sensor”, “Lane Departure Prevention Function”, “Road Sign Assist (RSA) with Traffic Sign Recognition Function”, and “Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)”. “Adaptive Cruise Control (with full-speed following function)” with a following function at all vehicle speeds is standard equipment. “Adaptive High Beam System (AHS)” and “Driver Monitoring System (DMS)” It is a “Safety Support Car” “Support Car S Wide” which is being promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and is an “AEBS Certified Vehicle” by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

When driving at a speed between about 60km/h and about 100km/h, the stereo camera recognizes the left and right lane markings. If the system determines that the vehicle is about to depart from its lane, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter alerts the driver.

Reversing Brake SupportFour ultrasonic sensors built into the rear bumper activate the automatic brakes when they detect an obstacle behind the vehicle. Camera package for omnidirectional monitor (Omnidirectional package, manufacturer’s option for vehicles equipped with Omnidirectional Monitor Camera Package)Four cameras are installed on the front, rear, left and right of the car.

While driving , road signs recognized by the stereo camera are displayed on the multi-information display in the meter at the appropriate time. Supports “Maximum speed,” “No straying,” “Supplementary signs,” “Stop sign,” and “No entry.”
